Payment Information
ER Centers of America, Inc. (ERCA) is an emergency room licensed by the State of Texas (License # 160020). Like all emergency rooms, ERCA provides medical care for both emergency and urgent medical conditions.
Texas Law HB 1357, Section 254.153 States: (a) A facility shall provide to each facility patient, without regard to the individual’s ability to pay, an appropriate medical screening examination, and stabilization within the facility’s capability, including ancillary services routinely available to the facility, to determine whether an emergency medical condition exists and any necessary stabilizing treatment.
Therefore, we cannot discuss a patient’s ability to pay for treatment prior to the patient being evaluated by the doctor on duty; and, the doctor’s determination that the patient is not in danger of their life, limb, or the viability of an unborn fetus.
By law, all emergency medical treatment including the medical screening exam to determine if you are having an emergency medical condition, is considered an in-network expense. Your insurance company is required to pay benefits according to your plan’s in-network emergency benefits, which may include both co-payments and deductibles.
If you have insurance other than Blue Cross/Blue Shield
If, after the medical screening, the doctor has determined that you are not suffering an emergency condition, your insurance company may consider that further treatment be “Out-of-Network” and higher deductibles may apply.Following your medical screening, our staff will be happy to discuss with you your insurance and other financial considerations. Any information we provide regarding your insurance benefits are only an estimate. Only your insurance company can provide your actual benefit information.
We are happy to file a claim with your insurance company on your behalf but we must collect the appropriate co-payment and deductible not yet satisfied up to the amount of charges for your visit.

These negotiated fee agreements provide similar advantages to patients as provider networks. Please look for the above logos on your Cigna, United or PHCS card to see if your provider participates. If uncertain please contact your carrier. The savings kick in once your deductible is used up.
